Eskaton

Located at the center of Dhaka city, Eskaton is one of the prime areas that developed following the partition of the Indian Subcontinent in 1947 and the formation of Pakistan. The neighborhood is in close proximity to two two important landmarks - the Shabagh square and the Intercontinental Hotel. The area contains several mosques and churches, and nearby there are a number of prestigious educational institutions such as AG Church School, Viqarunnisa Noon School and College, etc. As a result of governmental needs after 1947, a number of residential quarters for government employees developed in this area. Some of the earliest models of public sector housing of the post partition period are found in this neighborhood. The idea is to select exemplary representatives of distintinctive epochs or cultures in the history of Dhaka.
